On the third day of November 2026, election day, the bill will come due; it always does. In AZ CD6. Rep. Ciscomani and Trump will be held accountable for their actions, and there will be a reckoning.
I hope Hobbs pins (likely opponent) Biggs to policies like this tomato tariff in 2026, and I hope whoever makes it out of the Dem pack in CD6 slams Ciscomani with that tariff (and many other likely economic fails that will come with Trump tariff policy). Biggs has championed tariffs from the beginning, and he will likely run on a campaign promise to eliminate the state income tax at a time when the tax cuts bill will leave AZ with a budget deficit until at least 2026-2027. Our state budget (which is already tiny compared to other states with our population) would be a skeleton under Biggs.
Ciscomani has continued to conform to the in-crowd on tariff policy, which is shocking for someone with his background!
I will say that Ciscomani sits on House Appropriations, so hopefully he will be able pull the levers to release at least some of these Tucson-area federal education dollars. As someone who likely benefitted from programs like these in his childhood and upbringing, I would hope he has enough sense to fight for that money to land back in his district.
The best thing about the CD7 results was that Hernandez did so poorly.
I had hoped for a better showing from Foxx, but this was just a bad race for her. Adelita just has too much name recognition and the backing of the Grijalva machine. While I want younger members to have more sway in the Democratic Party, I'm glad Adelita won.
Viva Grijalva! Any day that Boss Hogg is foiled is a good day.
For comic relief, I have what little there is in the minor party primaries. They had only write-in candidates. The overwhelming number of votes were thrown out because people wrote in Mickey Mouse or Beyoncé. Por ejemplo, 78 people in Pima County voted in the No Labels primary and every vote was invalid. There was one No Labels vote for me in Cochise County, wherever that is, so it is possible I may be on the September ballot singing backup for Adelita. Eduardo Quintana won the Green Party nomination with a spectacular 31 votes in Pima County alone to 2 votes for Gary Swing. And nobody won the Libertarian nomination. Back to the real world now…

I liked the way you reported on the Adelita victory. Good job!

Believe Adelita will likely do just fine. People know her...and like her. If anything happens...D. Foxx is in the on-deck circle.

P.S. Better luck to Deja Foxx on “Love Island.”
I will NEVER give up my Tomatoes del Sur.
